We are happy to re-spotlight one of our LRES staff in a new role: physical education teacher. Coach T has been a part of the Laurel Ridge community since 2022.

Coach T

From special education paraprofessional to physical education teacher, let's learn what he likes to eat, his favorite Laurel Ridge memory, and the most rewarding part of his job below!

1) How long have you been part of the Laurel Ridge community?

I have been a part of the LRES Community since Aug 2022.

2) What inspired you to work in education?

I was inspired to work in education because it allows me to combine my love of movement with my passion for helping children develop. When I was a student, my teachers and coaches instilled in me a sense of confidence and encouraged me to strive for more. Their support taught me how much it matters when an adult believes in you, both as an athlete and as a person.

3) What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is watching students find joy in moving and learn that being active can be enjoyable for everyone, not just athletes. I love seeing a child who was unsure at first finally master a skill, or watching students encourage each other during a game. These moments show me that P.E. is about more than just fitness. It helps build confidence, teamwork, and resilience.

4) What do you hope students take away from their time with you?

More than anything, I hope my students remember that there was someone who believed in them, pushed them to grow, and truly cared about their success in and out of school. As they move on, I want them to take with them not just what they learned, but also a sense of resilience, curiosity, and confidence that they can make a real difference in the world.

5) Share a favorite Laurel Ridge memory.

My favorite LRES memory occurred last school year when the LRES Soccer Team won the Area 2 Championship. It was amazing to see all the students' hard work pay off

6) What’s a book or author that has influenced you?

A book that has influenced me is The Holy Bible. I've recently decided to take my faith more seriously, and The Holy Bible has influenced me immensely on my journey.

7) What is your favorite meal?

My favorite meal is buffalo wings and fries.

8) What’s one hobby, sport, or activity you enjoy in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and watching football.

9) If you could instantly learn a new skill, what would it be?

If I could instantly learn a new skill, it would be the ability to sing.
